Putting It All Together: 11/14/2026

This clinic brings together the themes and skills from the first three camps into a comprehensive session focused on point construction, decision-making, and match play scenarios. Players will be challenged to apply their groundstroke consistency, first four shot patterns, and transition skills in live-ball drills and competitive play. We'll emphasize recognizing patterns and executing under pressure — helping players become more complete and confident competitors.

Winter Session I: 12/12/2026

This clinic addresses maybe the most important skill needed in today's game: the rarely taught skill of defending. Players will learn how to neutralize opponents who are in control of the point, how to play from the corners and perimeter of the court, and how to disrupt an opponent's rhythm by changing the tempo of a rally.

Winter Session II: 12/19/2026

This clinic focuses on weapon development, with special attention paid to the biggest two weapons in the modern pro game, the inside out Forehand, and the down the line Backhand. Players will work on developing power and pace of shot. They will also learn how footwork affects these shots, how to efficiently move and address these shots, and how to incorporate these shots into their games.

Winter Session III: 12/26/2026

In high pressure situations, professional players combat nerves by sticking to their routines and by playing smart tactically. They begin points with specific patterns that they are comfortable with and confident in. This session will help players learn and identify which patterns work best for them and how to integrate them into their games.

Meet the USC Tennis Camp Coaches

Our coaching staff is led by current USC coaching staff and alumni, bringing decades of collegiate and competitive playing experience to every session.

Brett Masi

Camp Director

Brett Masi

Head Men's Tennis Coach

University of Southern California

Brett Masi is in his fifth season as the head coach at USC, having compiled a 80-22 record in the past four seasons at Troy.

In the 2023 season, Masi led the Trojans to their fourth-consecutive Pac-12 championship, finishing off the season as the No. 10 ranked squad in the country with an overall record of 21-8. The Trojans continued their streak of making the NCAA tournament as a team, as well as in the singles and doubles tournaments. The Trojans once again secured Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year, while three players made the Pac-12 First Team.

A former assistant to USC's 2009 NCAA Championship team, Masi returned to Troy as the Trojans' head coach on May 12, 2019. Prior to his return to USC, Masi guided the Texas Tech and San Diego men's tennis teams to eight NCAA Tournament appearances as head coach at those schools. He also was named conference Coach of the Year during both stints. In 14 seasons as a head coach, he has carried his teams to 11 NCAA appearances, including USC's NCAA Round of 16 run in 2021. He also spent time working at the Peter Smith Tennis Academy (2004-09), Martin Luther King High in Riverside, Calif. (2001-02), Cal Poly (2000-01) and IMG Academy-Los Angeles (2000).

Masi was a four-year (1997-2000) letterwinner at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he remains one of the program's all-time winningest players. He concluded his career with a 60-29 singles record and played among the top three spots of the lineup throughout his career. He climbed as high as No. 38 in the ITA singles rankings in 2000 and notched All-Big West first team honors as a senior.

Alison Swain

Camp Director

Alison Swain

Head Women's Tennis Coach

University of Southern California

Alison Swain, who built a women's tennis dynasty at Williams College by leading the Ephs to 8 NCAA Division III team championships, is now in her seventh season as the head coach of the Women of Troy. Through her six seasons at USC, she holds a 91-57 overall record (.615) with a 33-23 record (.589) in Pac-12 matches.

During the 2023 season, the Trojans recorded an overall record of 20-10, going 9-5 in conference play. The Trojans wrapped up the season as the No. 24 ranked team in the country, with two ranked singles players and three ranked doubles pairings. USC was named an ITA All-Academic Team in 2023 with five players earning the title of ITA Scholar-Athlete. Additionally, four Trojans were named to the Pac-12's Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Prior to arriving at Troy, Swain posted an .889 winning percentage (224-28) in her 10 seasons (2008-17) at Williams, including 48-2 in NCAA tournament play. She led the Ephs to 8 NCAA team championships, including in each of her first 6 seasons (an NCAA Division III record and tying Stanford for most consecutive at any level) as well as in 2015 (going 25-0) and the just-concluded 2017 campaign. She was named the 2013 ITA National Division III Coach of the Year, was a 5-time conference Coach of the Year and twice (2010-13) was the ITA Northeast Coach of the Year. She produced 2 NCAA champion doubles teams (Juli Raventos and Linda Shin in 2015 and 2016) and a trio of NCAA singles runners-up, along with 18 All-Americans, 2 ITA National Senior Players of the Year and an ITA National Most Improved Senior of the Year.

Swain was the second person in any division to win an NCAA tennis team championship as a player and a coach. She co-captained Williams' 2001 NCAA championship squad (the first in school history). She won All-New England Small College Athletic Conference honors and was named a Scholar-Athlete All-American.

Marc Lucero

Camp Director

Marc Lucero

Associate Head Men's Tennis Coach

University of Southern California

Lucero had served as a coach on the professional circuit since 2013. During that span, he worked with five different players: Amanda Anisimova (2023-2024), USC legend Steve Johnson (2019-2023), former No. 48th-ranked player Shelby Rogers (2014-19), Genie Bouchard (2013) and Alison Riske (2014). Recently, Lucero joined the coaching circle of Anisimova as he helped her return to the professional landscape after she took a sabbatical for most of 2023. During that span, Lucero helped her return to the scene as she made the 4th round of the Australian Open in just her second event back.

During Lucero's time with USC legend Steve Johnson, he helped him win the Bendigo Challenger and the Indian Wells 125k Challenger in 2020. Johnson also reached the 3rd round of Wimbledon in 2022 under Lucero's coaching.

Before working in the professional landscape, Lucero was a United States Tennis Association Player Development coach from 2010 to 2012. During that period, he traveled around the country and developed the next wave of women's tennis talent in the United States. Lucero worked with players such as Emma Higuchi and Nicole Gibbs. Higuchi won two National Championships in 2012 and ranked No. 1 in the USA. Gibbs won two NCAA National Championships and ranked within the WTA Top 200 during her collegiate career.

Lucero started his coaching career as an assistant tennis coach for the women's tennis program at Princeton University from the fall of 2004 through June 2007. There, he helped recruit the No. 3 and No. 2 ranked recruiting class in the nation.

Lucero graduated from Boston College with a degree in Economics in 2002. He captained the men's varsity team at BC and led the Eagles in career wins.

David Marks Tennis Stadium
The USC men’s and women’s tennis teams have called the David X. Marks Tennis Stadium home since its construction in 1971. This season, Trojan tennis sees its home revamped and renovated, bringing the venue up to date and in line with the impressive accomplishments of both programs. USC broke ground on the new Buntmann Family Tennis Center on Feb. 24, 2015, starting an impressive renovation project with the goal of elevating Marks Tennis Stadium to be on par with the best facilities in the country by creating an inviting, elegant, bright and safe training and competition environment.

The Buntmann Family Tennis Center entrance and lobby now welcomes fans and visitors and puts on display the rich history of USC tennis. To improve the building functionality and support the tennis program operations, the new Lisa and Douglas Goldman Family StudentAthlete Learning Studio supports direct collaboration between coaches, staff and athletes on a daily basis.

The teams are now able to utilize and enjoy brand-new suites with lockers, showers, team meeting rooms and lounges. Both teams also have access to a new training room, a stringing storage area and a large multi-purpose room. To better accommodate and enhance the spectator experience, new spectator shade canopies has been added, a new elevator to the seating area has been installed.
