MIND. BODY. SPIRIT. WEEKEND TENNIS RETREAT
Step away from the noise of everyday life and step into a tennis experience designed to elevate every dimension of your performance.
The Mind Body Spirit Tennis Retreat is a transformational training experience led by renowned coach Dale Light and NCAA Head Coach Matthew Simons, author of The Mentally Tough Tennis Player and The Field Guide for BALANCE in a World of Chaos.
This immersive retreat goes far beyond traditional tennis instruction. It blends elite on court coaching, mental performance training, and personal reflection into a single powerful experience. Because the highest level of tennis performance does not come from technique alone. It comes from the alignment of mind, body, and spirit. Whether you are competing in a high pressure tiebreak or navigating the challenges of professional life, the same principles determine success:
Clarity.
Resilience.
Balance.
This retreat teaches you how to develop all three.
A Transformational Tennis Experience
This is not simply a weekend of drills. It is a carefully designed experience that connects high performance tennis training with personal growth. Participants will train, reflect, and compete while developing the tools needed to perform with confidence under pressure. Through guided instruction and intentional practice, players will discover how to unlock their full potential both on and off the court.
The Mentally Tough Toolkit
Every participant receives a copy of The Mentally Tough Tennis Player, a powerful training guide created by Head Coach Matthew Simons. More than a book, it serves as an interactive journal and performance framework that helps players track their mental development during training and competition. Throughout the retreat, players will learn how to use this system to identify mental barriers, strengthen their mindset, and build habits that support long term success.
Elite Coaching Leadership
Participants will learn directly from two respected leaders in the game. Dale Light brings decades of coaching wisdom rooted in discipline, devotion, and the deeper philosophy of sport. Matthew Simons, an NCAA head coach since 2018, combines elite player development with a powerful framework for mental toughness and life balance. Together they create a coaching environment that challenges athletes while nurturing their personal growth.
The Mind Body Spirit Advantage
Tennis is a game of inches and moments. When your body is conditioned, your mind is focused, and your spirit is centered, you unlock a level of performance that cannot be reached through physical training alone. This retreat is designed to help players break through the internal barriers that limit performance and rediscover their true competitive edge. Participants leave with not only improved skills but also a renewed sense of clarity, purpose, and confidence.

Camp Director:
Dale Light
HOLISTIC TENNIS COACH
After finishing his collegiate tennis career, Light knew that his future in the sport he loved would focus on coaching rather than competitive play. His perspective, shaped in part by reading The Inner Game of Tennis multiple times during college, led him to think deeply about how he was living his life off the court, with an emphasis on holistically blending mind, body, and spirit.
Over more than forty-five years of directing tennis programs, Light was fortunate to be supported by four world-renowned mentors who helped shape his unique approach to coaching: Chet Murphy, Peter Burwash, Dr. Desmond Oon, and Dennis Ralston. Whether he was in Beijing, China, South America, or anywhere in the United States, they remained guiding influences throughout his journey.
Light’s coaching career includes eight years in collegiate tennis; with four years serving as Head Men’s and Women’s Coach at New Mexico State University, and four years at Lebanon Valley College. He also spent eight and a half years assisting Dennis Ralston at the world-famous The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, where he helped coach and direct adult camps, supported national-level junior training programs, and taught members and guests.
For twenty years, Light served as Director of Tennis at The Boulders Resort in Scottsdale. Alongside a dedicated team, he helped build a program that was consistently rated among the top five in the world by Tennis Resorts Online. During many summers throughout his career, he traveled to Beijing, China, where he trained prospective Chinese tennis coaches and worked at the Olympic Training Center.
Light’s holistic coaching philosophy is supported by a wide range of certifications and professional development experiences. These include a Transformation Life Coach degree from Southwest Institute of Healing Arts; High Performance Coach certification from the United States Tennis Association; Certified High Performance Exercise Kinesiology and Biomechanics from the C.H.E.K. Institute; Macrobiotic Cooking and Therapy Practitioner certification from the Pennsylvania School of Shiatsu; and Teacher of Presence certification from Eckhart Tolle. He is also a Level 3 Coach with Love Coaching Autism, a member of the Directors Club, and a member of SETS International.
A voracious reader, Light continues to pursue growth both personally and professionally, always seeking a higher path for himself and those he coaches.
