Recently, David Schilling, President of Premier Sports Camps and Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps gave an interview on campnavigator.com for their podcast series on successful camps. This 7 minute interview focused on the uniqueness and success of the tennis camps and provided some insights on what makes the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps unique and successful. A written Q&A is also included in the interview with Coach Schilling (also an assistant tennis coach for the highly successful Ohio State University men’s tennis team). Below is part of the Q&A
The Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps is where learning is organized, fun is emphasized and safety is priortized. We achieve this goal by partnering with the nations top college coaches on beautiful college campuses, to provide a learning environment that is both safe and fun. College campuses represent higher learning and this is where our camps take place. Our camp locations are handpicked to be hosted on campuses that are well set up to handle young players. First rate facilities are available both on and off the courts.
We offer a comprehensive tennis curriculum that progresses throughout the week. Well rounded days with a comprehensive curriculum that progresses through the course of the week, coupled with first rate facilities at the most beautiful campuses, our camps will feature small group instruction and personal attention in a fun and safe environment.
Each camper will receive instruction on the fundamentals of all major strokes which will enhance their skills through repetition, ball-feeding drills, live-ball situations and competitive match play. In addition, campers will be exposed to team play and match play in singles and doubles and learn aspects of team play. These camps are excellent preparation for anyone interested in participating in middle school, high school or USTA team tennis, or preparing to compete in any USTA leagues and/or tournaments.
