HIGHER LEARNING FOR YOUR GAME
Top collegiate coaches, beautiful college campuses, first rate facilities, and the latest and the most sophisticated teaching techniques are the foundation for the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps.
The Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp is a new partnership between Wilson Racquet Sports, the #1 brand in tennis, and Premier Sports Camps, Inc, one of the most respected camp companies in the country. With an emphasis on individual attention in small group settings, young players will experience the latest teaching techniques from today’s top collegiate tennis coaches in an safe and exciting college setting.
Each camper will receive instruction on the fundamentals of all major strokes and will enhance their skills through repetition, ball-feeding drills, live-ball situations and competitive match play. In addition, players will be exposed match play in singles and doubles and learn the qualities involved with team competition. The Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps are excellent preparation for anyone interested in participating in middle school, high school or USTA team tennis, or preparing to compete in USTA leagues and/or tournaments.
The Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps offer a variety of programs to ensure a challenging experience for each student. These include:
TRADITIONAL CAMPS: Our traditional tennis camps (non match-play or college prep) are designed to focus on the fundamentals and swing techniques of the modern tennis strokes. Some of the areas of focus for each level include:
• Beginners: The beginning level player will be introduced to the basics of the game. Emphasis will be placed on stroke production and the technical aspects of the swing in an effort to teach these young players sound fundamentals from the ground up.
• Intermediate: Intermediate level players will also focus on fundamental stroke production (to ensure proper technique), but will also be in put into game play situations to introduce these players to the competitive side of the game.
• Advanced: The more advanced players will work with stroke production in a competitive environment, but will also be introduced to the basic strategies of the game.
• High School / Tournament: Varsity high school and tournament players will focus on the strategic and competitive aspects of the game. Although there will be attention spent on the stroke fundamentals, more emphasis will be placed on point progression, court positioning, patterns and sequences, percentage plays and live ball drill work.
MATCH PLAY CAMPS:
The Match Play weeks of camp are designed for players looking for a highly competitive experience, with an emphasis on match strategies and point progressions. Campers will be exposed to many of the advanced teaching techniques and match play strategies found in the country’s top collegiate tennis programs.
The players will focus each morning on singles strategies. Offense, Defense, alternative patterns of play and the role of footwork and balance will be featured. Afternoon emphasis is on doubles techniques and strategies, including traditional and alternative formations. Evening tennis will involve Match Play, with on court coaching from our staff to ensure that these concepts are being adopted and understood by each camper. It is the main goal of the camp to teach the students a way to improve dramatically by playing percentages and understanding the strategies of the game of tennis.
The College Prep camp is designed for high school level players looking for a highly intense tennis experience, with an emphasis on preparing the young player for playing collegiate tennis. The camp will feature high energy workouts and drill sessions that replicate the pace and focus of a top college practice. Strategies, point progressions, and percentage awareness will be highlighted on court, as well as stiff competitive situations. In addition, the camp will feature lectures and seminars on areas such as college recruiting, ACT/SAT preparation, NCAA division differentiations (I, II, III, NAIA, JC), exposure showcases, and scheduling, amongst other college preparatory areas. This camp is designed for players entering and already in high school and space will be limited !
